Parents

“My piece is a traditional Chinese brush painting on rice paper. I focused on the importance of hair, which is significant in showing who I am, and my identity as an Asian American. Confucius believed that hair is gifted by parents. With this idea in mind, I chose to connect the hairs of my parents to mine to thank them for their sacrifices and hard work.”

Moving Too Fast

This film depicts the struggle of a teen contemplating suicide. Life speeds past her as she feels out of touch and hopeless. A close friend notices the warning signs, reaches out to help, and offers numerous resources that provide further support.

My Life

A boy is diagnosed with ADHD, feels alone and is struggling in school until he reaches out for help and starts to see the light.

Creative Social Distancing

“My entry is for the monthly October Hope and Justice Prompt. My entry is about some ways we could identify 6 feet and social distance creatively. It is a 59 second animation.”

Pandemic Hope

I decided to do this because it shows how this pandemic has hit everyone hard, but we will get through it.

No Justice No Peace

I personally chose this category to spread awareness for those who have to feel the things that they are feeling right now, and just to show that if POC don’t get justice, we as a supporter and/or members of the community, will not stay quiet.

A Little Hope

In a 100% virtual Title 1 public school, these kids used whatever they had at home to produce and edit this short film. After-school Zoom meetings, class brainstorming and virtual instruction made it possible even without the technology and resources we would normally have at school. Although it’s not perfect, the love and effort it took to do this brought us closer together as a class and taught the students how to adapt and inspire in ways they did not know was possible.

Social Distancing with Trigonometry

The submission uses mathematics to determine a way to measure the appropriate social distance of six feet. More precisely, it utilizes trigonometry to determine the angle of vision required when two equal height individuals are six feet away and looking at each other.

A girl hides her true feelings behind a smile and laughter until she finds friends that like her for who she is. She finds power and strength in expressing and being her real self.
