Find the Words

This short is a brief reflection of my own experience in which my best friend found the words. I aimed to provide the three basic action steps someone could remember in a situation where they are concerned about someone they know. Although I wish I could have gotten more creative with my scenes, I did my best with the time allotment of 30 seconds.

Walking in Shoes of Depression

This video is about Walking in Shoes of Depression about a young girl who feels lost and helpless. However, one of her closest friends seemed concerned. All her friends happen to read notes from a box she left behind. They come to find out by reading the notes she doesn’t feel like she belongs on earth anymore. As a result, as a group, they went to check up on her to show she is not alone and show her distractions, love, and support! She doesn’t have to walk alone in shoes of depression.

You Aren’t Alone

I chose this category because I’ve seen many of my loved ones struggle with their mental health, and some even lose their battle against it. My sister has never been one to open up and talk to people about her issues, and that eats her up inside. Doing research and digging into more details about this matter has helped me learn how to carefully approach people like my sister, and get them to open up about it a little bit.

Mental health in Asian Americans

I chose this category because I know people who are or have been through this situation. Not only that, I can relate to this video as well.

The World Is Better With You In It

Arianna and Aileen are aware of many suicidal ideations. They wanted to share the message that even if sometimes we are in a dark place, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You can overcome any issue when you feel lost. Speaking out and accepting support will lead you to a positive life and can change your future. The willingness of being open to sharing so others can listen can do so much. The world is better with you in it and we want you to know everyone matters.

Reaching Out

Our leadership class is focusing on our annual Acts of Kindness unit. With the start of our NAMI on Campus club, we chose to create a few short films we could use to help students know that they are not alone.

Sports Culture Among Female Athletes

Female student athletes discuss how their mental health is affected by an intense focus on their bodies. They encourage other student athletes to reach out for help if they are struggling with body image issues or eating disorders.

The Comeback

A student swimmer describes how he realizes that something feels different about his mental health. He finds support from his team, family and others to seek help for his sadness and stress.

You Never Know

While chatting with her friend, a girl opens up that she’s been struggling and needs support. The film shares signs of depression and how a friend can be supportive by connecting someone who is struggling with a trusted adult and reminds viewers that you are never alone.
