Leading On Others

My submission is about people leading on other people into the light or the dark. What this means is that the light is happiness and kindness and the dark is sadness and discouragement.

Puedo Enfrentarlo

A pair of girls discuss the pressure they carry to succeed but also rely on their family and resources.

Parents

“My piece is a traditional Chinese brush painting on rice paper. I focused on the importance of hair, which is significant in showing who I am, and my identity as an Asian American. Confucius believed that hair is gifted by parents. With this idea in mind, I chose to connect the hairs of my parents to mine to thank them for their sacrifices and hard work.”

We Can See Hope

“We CAN See hope. This project was completed 100% virtually with all students/teachers online. We wanted to express what this past year has held within education and how all of us can still see HOPE. This is their reality, and with the help from their community and state, they can succeed. Mental Health Matters to ALL of us, and this is the most important time to SEE HOPE!”

The Hope in Music

“My piece shows how music can positively impact mental health. Although surrounded by darkness, the bright stream of music gives the person a reason to smile and hope.”

Flowers of Gratitude

Flowers hold significant meanings, from love, joy, loss, grief, freedom, and gratitude. In my culture, you gift someone flowers to show that you’re thankful for what they’ve done. My entry depicts a man holding flowers, with a white dialogue box underneath that says “Thank you,” which hints the viewer towards the message and theme of gratitude. which I was trying to demonstrate through my drawing.

Primer Generación

A young girl shares how the pressure of being a first-generation American affects her wellbeing and not being able to share her feelings with her family.

A Day in My Life

The way my speech relates to what was asked, I wrote about the unfairness I encountered in my life, the discrimination and stereotypes I’ve been put in, and the injustice. I wrote about how many infortunate events have blocked me from getting to my full potential. I find myself being afraid to go out and play in my community and always looking behind our car wondering if the policeman was going to stop my family or if I see a policeman, it makes me feel anxious, uncomfortable, nervous. , and unsafe.

Thankful Thoughts

My submission is about who I am grateful for, my sister Lisbeth she is like a mom to me because my mom was always busy so she would take care of me and she taught me everything. I wanted to show my sister how grateful I am and a result of working on this project is that my sister is now aware of how much I am grateful and appreciate her.
