Mental Health

A Quiet Life

I did a voice over for my project, and I was running low on time to complete the video. Since I didn’t have time for another rewrite I decided to use my own voice and critical thinking to do the work. I did pretty well for remaking the process where I was speaking like an autistic person because I already had experience with autism

The Talk

Our entry is about a teenage boy who is mentally not doing well, but refuses to tell anyone about it because he thinks that if he does, he’ll be seen as weak. In the film, he sees that his grades are terrible and drops his head on the desk. Then his friend walks in and they talk about his struggles. He then gets the confidence to talk to his mom about it.

Full Court Static

My short film tells the story of Jordan, a gifted basketball player quietly battling performance anxiety. The visual language reflects his isolation and inner tension, we avoid eye contact with him until the final moments, his hood stays up as a barrier, and he practices alone at night on an empty outdoor court. Subtle details, shaky hands, a distant, zoned-out expression, repeated missed shots, and the exhaustion of chasing the ball, capture the weight of unseen pressure. After a moment of frustration, Jordan chooses to turn back, reclaiming his focus and confidence. Only then do we finally meet his eyes, symbolizing resilience, self-belief, and the importance of empathy, reminding viewers to “walk in someone else’s shoes,” because struggles with mental health are often invisible.

The Weight of Massive Anxiety

Our story is about how anxiety piles up on you and why you should speak up about your situation and remove the weight off your shoulders and mind. It is important to get the weight off because it can show how much of a different person you are.

I Lost Her

This entry is a short film about love and a tragic loss entering the Metal Health category. The short film revolves around a young couple Prince and Sophia that are deeply in love, but one regular day like any other tragedy struck, Sophia tragically died in a car crash, Prince unable to bear the loss of his significant other falls into a deep depression, in doing so he starts to lose himself to the depression eventually making him dangerously close to overdosing, making him blackout until he collapses onto his couch, but in the nick of time Prince’s friend Arthur, manages to find Prince collapsed onto the couch and managed to help Prince embracing him in a hug.

Obsession

We aim to highlight the widespread difficulties of body dysmorphia. Many get stuck in a constant cycle around a self inflicted problem. Our character portrays a teen whose life revolves around his image. How he can be more satisfied with his appearance, is what he constantly asks himself. This problem has shown an unfortunate amount of growth due to the use of social media, comparison leading to the idea that striving for a “better” appearance, will lead to satisfaction. It needs to be addressed, and we need to remind ourselves of long lasting healthy dopamine. A healthy life is a balanced life. Don’t obsess.

Scholar To Struggle

Our submission is about a kid who deals with mental health issues and he gets a call from his mom telling him about a family members passing and that’s when he gets help.

The Breaking Point

A high school girl struggle with her emotions. She feels overwhelmed with school, sports, and trying to hide her struggles. She wants others to think she’s okay but in reality she isn’t. She’s losing her motivation to do anything. Her best friend notices she doesn’t look okay and realizes she may need help.

The weight of silence

Our film relates to how teens of any age can struggle with mental health and how one person reaching out can change their life around.
