Film

.Dear Mom.

My film shows a teen girl struggling with the idea of sharing how much she loves her stepmother. Instead of speaking with words, she writes what she feels. This story highlights the challenges of being honest with the ones you love, inviting the audience to reflect on their own struggles with true communication.

Innocence

This entry explores the emotional distance that can form between a parent and child during the transition into adulthood. The film reflects how young people often struggle to explain what they feel, even to the adults closest to them. It asks adults to recognize that withdrawal and distance are often signs of vulnerability, not defiance, and invites them to listen more closely to emotional cues that are easy to miss.

Here the Whole Time

The point of my film is to bring awareness to what someone who is struggling with mental health is dealing with. My main goal was to highlight what individuals are going through and that they can find help by reaching out.

Connection: What Does It Look Like?

“We are all Connected. Family. Friends. Coworkers. Peers. From the moment you came into being and up to where you are today, These people have been a part of your life. From your happiest days to your lowest, from all walks of life, and from different generations, they have seen what you have been through. Sadness, Anger, Happiness, feeling Alone, feeling Hurt, feeling Stressed; They have been through it all as well. If you feel as though no one understands you, Just know that there is someone out there that does. Someone who knows exactly what you’re feeling, someone who knows how to make your day just a little brighter, and someone who can be a shoulder to cry on. That’s what Connection is for. Take a moment today to find that someone, because they may just be right next to you. What does Connection mean to you?”

Sierra Native Alliance Youth – Making Connections

This video was created for ads in the movie theaters in our county to promote the Never A Bother campaign. The focus of the video is on the importance of making connections with the relatives in our lives.

Breathe

Breathing in such an overlooked tool to calm our selves down and bring us back to earth.

What You Get Is Not Always What You See

I created this mask to share that what’s going on inside of me (or anyone else) is not always what is visible. I use art to express how I’m feeling about lots of subjects, including injustice and the hope for justice.

Your voice Matters

This entry is for the people that are too scared to vote and aren’t informed of what voting effects. Many people ask for a lot for the community which causes them to blame individuals that have no control. It’s a problem that we have social media to inform others about election and teach them the importance of it. As future voter we need to educate them and vise versa. It’s important to take account how this effect not just a small part of the county party but more then that it effect me as a student.

“I love your hair.”

I’ve always struggled with feeling comfortable in my identity because of the way my hair looks compared to those around me. It’s caused me a lot anxiety and stress. I’ve learned though, that over time, my hair is apart of me. Not something to perfect or change as to conform into a mold of how others should perceive me. It’s something I should embrace, simply for myself. Through this short film, I describe this inner turmoil I face everyday. I voice the thoughts that constantly run through my head, even when I appear normal to others. In this piece I show the ways I have found myself to be more comfortable in my skin, or more specifically my hair. Seeing my mom with her own unique hair, and talking with others who also share the same feelings allowed to me to realize I’m not alone.
