Submissions are accepted from youth ages 12-25 in any art medium including but not limited to film, visual art, original music, narrative, poetry and more. Not old enough? Have your parent contact us and we can make an exception.
Youth and Advisors must be signed up with Youth Creating Change before they can submit an entry. This should be done as soon as you decide to enter the contest. Learn more about selecting an advisor and signing up.
Youth must sign a release form. If under the age of 18 the release form must also be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Any elements in your film or art, including but without limitation to music, audio, stills, video, supers or other audiovisual materials used must be entirely original, created and performed by the entrant and/or participants; or be in the public domain or purchased/released.
Submissions are due at midnight of the last day of the month and winners will be announced by the 15th of the following month and shared via social media and on the website.
Participants are eligible to submit multiple entries per month.
Prizes include: First place ($300), Second Place ($150), Third Place ($100), and Honorable Mention ($25) in Amazon gift cards. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and the Youth Creating Change Team.
Special challenges are offered throughout the year. All entries submitted that respond to the content topic requested by the special challenge prompt receive a $20 Amazon gift card and qualify to win a grand prize of $100. To be clear, only entries that respond to the special challenge prompt receive the gift card. Entries submitted to the special challenge cannot be entered into one of the other categories: Hope, Justice or Monthly Prompt.
Youth Creating Change also offers an annual film contest. All 60-second film entries received prior to the annual film contest deadline will also be entered into the film contest for an additional change to complete. All art pieces submitted will be reviewed for a chance to be featured in the Hope and Justice Art Gallery and recognized during special events.
